Karolina Osiadacz
Poland on a Plate
Inspired by fond memories of my upbringing, I have photographed the Polish cuisine that played a major part in my childhood. The images in this series range from simple home-cooked meals to extravagant culinary displays. From Borscht, a dish made from beetroot that dates from the late Middle Ages to Pierniki, a sweet gingerbread-style treat, Polish cuisine has evolved as a result of changing economic and political circumstances. With these photographs, I hope to give the viewer an understanding of the food and ingredients that have shaped my nation.
