Football has been lifelong passion of mine and has played a large part in my childhood. I have played football from the age of four, even though it was hard finding any all-girls teams. With the increasing public interest in women’s football, it has become more common to see girls participating in football events and creating teams of their own. This led me to start the project Grassroots, in which I have been working alongside an all-girl team. The Dale Park Panthers are an under-11’s team who have been playing together for three years and have recently moved from a male-dominated league to an all-girl league. This series of photographs documents their journey together and the continuously changing community of football, but, above all, it shows what being part of a team really means.
